Sept. 30: Project distributed

Oct 8, 8AM: Posted to your class blog TWO (or more) possible sites for your project. Each site should be represented by a 6-second video clip. Experiment with a strategy (from above or your own) for ach site.

Oct 12: (In Lecture) One-hour moviemaking workshop

Oct. 22, 8AM: Posted to your class blog: A rough cut 60-second video for feedback

Nov 2, 9AM: Final Projects Due. In-class Film Festival. Breakfast snacks included!

Here is the large public space of the Caltrans District 7 Headquarters building designed by Morphosis. Learn more about the projects here. The public art project (made with fluorescent light bulbs) was designed in collaboration with artist Keith Sonnier.

Welcome to "Understanding Architecture"

Hi everyone! This is our class blog where you will find all of the assignments and general class materials for ARCH/HISTART212 "Understanding Architecture." For specific section requirements or to hand in assignments, go to your individual section blogs.

Since you're all introducing yourselves, I thought I would do the same. I am an architect and professor at the University of Michigan. I have lived and worked in Ann Arbor for ten years. I grew up in and around Philadelphia where I attended Temple University majoring in Architecture as an undergraduate. Later...
